Small Arms Ammunition
MARUSS Sdn Bhd (MSB) manufactures small arms ammunition for both domestic Military and Security Enforcement agencies. Based on strong market demand, both locally as well as across MENA and ASEAN, for specific standard calibers, our offering includes the 9mm, 5.56mm and 7.62mm ammunition, as well as shotgun cartridges. We are currently in the process of building our new ammunition plant in Selangor, Malaysia.
As part of our weapons customisation services MSB will work closely with the client to conduct a complete weapons status discovery, after which MSB will generate a complete upgrade solution to the client. The upgrade solutions for existing weapons will include the latest attachments and accessories, to match the client’s needs. Currently, Southeast Asian countries have a significant amount of obsolete small arms that require upgrade, which represents a significant opportunity for MARUSS.

Company Introduction
MARUSS Sdn. Bhd. was established at the end of 2018 to gain a foothold in the defence industry, with the primary focus of filling the void in the local and regional markets’ supply requirements.
MARUSS was awarded its manufacturing license in April 2022 and we are in the process of commencing the construction of our state-of-the-art small arms ammunition factory in Selangor. While construction is ongoing MARUSS is privileged to be working with global world-class ammunition providers to cover any requests for small arms ammunition in Malaysia and across the region. MARUSS is also honoured to be working closely with both the Malaysian Royal Police and the Malaysian Armed Forces on a variety of value-add projects to bolster their respective capabilities even further.

MSB has close 200 years of combined experience from both the military and the defence manufacturing industry; derived from long and successful military and defence manufacturing careers, resulting in extensive experience in small arms ammunition manufacturing and weapons upgrading.

NON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
LT GEN DATO’ SRI AZZUDDIN AHMAD (Retired) contributes his expertise and experience from his 35 years in the Malaysian Armed Forces, out of which 30 years were in various intelligence-related roles in the Malaysian Ministry of Defence and the Prime Minister’s Department.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
LT COL AZHA YAHYA (Retired) brings a solid 20 years worth of ammunition manufacturing experience, as well as 21 years in the Malaysian army, where he specialised in ammunitions & explosives. Lt Col Azha Yahya (Retired) has also served overseas on the UNTAC mission to Cambodia with MALBATT 1 & 2.
MANAGING DIRECTOR
SYAFIQ MOHD RAZI brings more than 15 years of strong commercial management experience from across the South East Asia region; focusing on investments in mining operations, primarily in Alluvial Gold mines, in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Mr Syafiq also engaged in renewable energies, where in 2015 he was one of the earliest to conduct a full-scale photovoltaic study in Vietnam working closely with the MOIT and other European companies, and in 2018 the company was awarded a 175MWac allocation to build, own and operate a Photovoltaic Power Plant in three (3) phases.
INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR
DATO’ HAJI KAMIL KHALID ARIFF adds more than 40 years of experience from serving in numerous senior management and Board positions to the MARUSS team. He was the Co-Founder and Director of the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market, as part of a Government Steering Committee, in the mid-1980s. Dato’ Haji Kamil Khalid is currently Chairman of Liberty Insurance Berhad and Gibraltar BSN Life Insurance Berhad. He is also Chairman of Putrajaya Holdings Bhd & several private companies. He recently retired as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Bank Muamalat (M) Bhd and has since taken on the current position of Independent Director of Public Islamic Bank.
SENIOR PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT
LT GEN DATO' SRI MOHD ZAKARIA BIN HJ YADI (Retired) joined the Royal Malay Regiment in 1981, and he held various appointments both in the Army and other Armed Forces units as Commanding Officer, Staff Officer, Commandant, Brigade Commander, Division Commander, Assistant Chief of Staff, East Malaysia Field Commander and finally as Chief of Staff at the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters. Dato’ Sri also served as Legal Advisor to the Malaysian Battalion in Somalia.

AHMAD ZAINI ABBAS brings more than 40 years' worth of ammunition and explosives manufacturing experience to MARUSS. Throughout his career, Zaini has focused on continuous learning by attending career and industry-related training programs spanning the USA, UK, Austria, Germany, Singapore and Japan.
SENIOR MANAGER – MANUFACTURING
FAIRUZ BIN MUHAMAD brings close to 20 years worth of experience from the defence industry, where his main specialisation has been in small arms ammunition manufacturing and ammunition production processes. Fairuz has continued to expand his skillsets by attending career and industry-related training programs worldwide, including in Korea, Bosnia, Belgium, Italy, Norway, China, and the USA.
SENIOR MANAGER - QUALITY ASSURANCE
MOHD NIZAM BIN MAT ZIN is a Quality Auditor expert with over 28 years of knowledge dealing with procurement & logistics, operational strategy & planning and operational excellence. His experience comes primarily from the Malaysian manufacturing industry, where he spent the last 15 years in the defence industry. Here, he specialised in manufacturing processes and ensuring optimum production standards. He has diligently attended many training courses throughout his career including ISO 9001 - Lead Auditor, ISO 9000 - Measurement and Calibration Systems, Risk Management, Process Control, Pyrotechnics, Missile Design and Engineering.
SENIOR MANAGER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
MUHAMMAD RIKHAL SHAH BIN JAMALUDDIN brings more than 10 years of management and business development experience to the MARUSS team. Rikhal’s role has seen him successfully lead an investment holding company, that included a diverse group of portfolio companies, where he led all major aspects of the group; such as corporate acquisitions and divestments, corporate restructuring and transformation, deal negotiations, relationship and partnership building, business development and new customer acquisitions across multiple industries.
SENIOR MANAGER - PROJECT MANAGEMENT
KHAIRUL MOHAMMAD contributes more than 10 years of regional general management and project management experience to the MARUSS team. Khairul has led multiple large-scale energy projects across Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia, where he was key in successfully negotiating and coordinating with both local and central governments, as well as with private landowners and contractors.
MANAGER - PROJECT MANAGEMENT
ELZURA BASIRUN brings a multitude of project management experience to the MSB team. Her career spans over 20 years of operational, project management and consulting experience in IT and Construction in several companies; Dache Gemilang, Perabut Unggul, Quantum Network Resources, VSS System (M), and Uraco Manufacturing. Elzura has a strong background in the IT Services industry, where she was involved in on-site implementation projects; managing the entire project implementation life cycle while acting liaison between customers and the project implementation team. Her experience managing complex multi-site projects from initiation to closure allowed Elzura to transfer into project management in the construction sector, where she successfully managed several construction projects from the blueprint stage to the completed project.
MANAGER - WEAPONS DIVISION
HUZAYMI BIN ZAMRI is a Senior Technical Service Engineer with more than 26 years worth of manufacturing experience mainly from the defence industry. He is an expert in weapons manufacturing, handling and maintenance. One of the pioneers in the STEYR rifle programs in the 1990s, Huzaymi developed himself as the only weapons barrel specialist during that program. During his career, Huzaymi has actively attended career and industry-related programs in the USA, Korea and Malaysia namely; Colt Law Enforcement & Military Training Certification, Internal Auditing MS 9001:2008 from SIRIM Training Services, Rifle Manufacturing Process, M4 Armorer Training, Quality Assurance Processes, Rifle Testing, Inspection & Packaging Process from Colt Defence, etc.
MANAGER - SALES
MIMI FATILA BINTI ABD RAHIM brings invaluable experience to MSB, especially to MSB’s ammunition manufacturing vertical for shotgun production. Mimi has more than 7 years of experience in sales, distribution and client relations, with 4 years as a sales and marketing executive in the defence industry. Throughout her tenure, her focus was selling shotgun ammunition, where she accumulated close relationships with a vast network of suppliers and dealers within Malaysia. Her expertise in shotgun pricing, customer relations and market insight has enabled her to rise quickly within the industry and thus become a valuable asset to MSB.
MANAGER - PRODUCTION
HASLAN BIN MOKHTAR is a small arms ammunition expert with more than 18 years of knowledge dealing with ammunition production strategy & planning, raw materials procurement & logistics, and operational excellence. He specialises in the manufacturing of shotgun cartridges of various calibres. Over the years, he has also created a personalised network with individual shotgun cartridge makers worldwide, sharing best practices and experiences. Always striving to continuously improve his product category, he has attended various speciality training courses throughout his career, including; Introduction to Explosives, Introduction to Pneumatic Systems, and Production Process Control, to name a few.
MANAGER - MAINTENANCE
AMBROSE BIN YAHYA FENNER has spent over 20 years in the defence industry, working for a Malaysian Manufacturing firm where he was mainly responsible for the planning and production of large-calibre ammunition. Ambrose was directly involved in the design and implementation of the TNT loading process into the large-calibre ammunition. His expertise includes the installation, maintenance and upgrading of small-calibre and large-calibre ammunition production machines.
MANAGER - FINANCE
NURUL BARIAH IMANI BINTI JAMALUDDIN brings solid core financial qualifications and analytical skills to the MARUSS team. With a strong background in financial analysis, financial modelling, industry research and a keen sense of cost management, Imani has already proven herself as an invaluable team member. Her good understanding of financial analysis and principles coupled with her excellent interpersonal skills has made her the logical choice as our prime bank liaison in relation to contract financing, debt structuring and funds management. Imani’s personality and solid contributions related to both finance and operations have already made her a valuable asset to MARUSS.
MANAGER - HUMAN RESOURCES
NURUL FINA BINTI ISMAIL has been in the Human Resources field for 14 years. Her exposure from various industries has led her to experience a plethora of different issues and responsibilities where she has honed in on her ability to problem-solve any situation. Her expertise comes with handling a full spectrum of human resources and administration aspects, such as implementing company policies & procedures, performance management, retrenchment exercises, recruitment, compensation & benefits, employee relations and many more.
MANAGER - CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
KAMIL KHAIRI ARIFF is a communication specialist with experience working for numerous GLCs in Kuala Lumpur. Throughout his professional career journey, Khairi, who specializes in Public Relation, Stakeholder Management, Community Engagement and Screen Production has managed to add value during his previous employment, bringing a more creative and strategic approach on corporate communications. Over the years, Khairi was able to execute effective communication skills and led multiple engagements for both internal and external stakeholders.
